WHO ARE WE?
Dr. Contracture is a campaign dedicated to creating a world free from burn contractures - a serious but preventable limitation that can occur after a burn injury.
Deeper and more severe burn injuries often result in scarring. Scarring becomes visible after the burn wound has healed, and can thicken and contract excessively. The inflammation, tightening and thickening of the scar can result in pain and loss of movement over a joint or any other part of the body, significantly reducing the quality of life of a burns survivor. Burn contractures can lead to long term impairment, visible difference and disability.
Our objective is to stop burn contractures and reduce the related suffering. We are a group of people from a variety of backgrounds, including healthcare professionals, burns survivors and others committed to transforming the massive yet preventable suffering that can result from burn contractures.
